Freemason Secrets - The Religious Views Of Freemasonry

Fernando Filipe

by Simon Gray

As according to the claims made by the Freemasons they are not a religious fraternity and do not believe from their stance that there is any conflict with most religions. Their stand is they demand religious tolerance. When asked to explain their argument is they believe in freedom of choice in religion and do not suppress the belief of others. They appear to be of the mind that there are many Religions that do this by persecuting those in opposition to those particular religions beliefs.

The Freemasons feel so strongly about the freedom of choice that any prospective member that is not of the same mind will not be welcomed as a member. The Freemasonry organization do admit they receive some outside opposite from various religious organizations but this because these organizations have been misinformed about the purpose of the Freemasons. It would seem that perhaps if the Freemason were to open their doors to visits from these religious organizations that perhaps many of the misconceptions they are referring to would be put to rest.

Many individuals will speculate that Freemasonry is really a cult. The Freemasons take the word cult literally and define it as having various meanings some not as ominous as what most consider a cult is. For example, they believe that certain activities such as sports could be considered a cult and even some religions as Christianity have been dubbed as such. When asked to explain their view on cult as something sinister they emphatically rebuke any tie to the types of activities that would apply to this form of cult. Their definition of this type of cult is it refers to individuals who have abandoned society with high demands of obedience from their members and induces brainwashing. That the leaders of such cults will take all the members possessions. That these types of groups set them selves against society in general. There is no doubt that there are many fanatical cults that have the characteristics such as these. Then there are many other more subtle cults that are just as dangerous to society in a much more executed manner so based on that particular explanation one cannot say that if these criteria are not present than other actions do not constitute a cults.

Now having an understanding as to what the Freemasons consider as a cult it makes their explanation of what they do seem nowhere near being a cult. They will tell you they do not advertise or actively engage in actions to recruit new members. Members are not forced to attend meetings. There are only small membership dues to keep your membership in good standing. They have expectations in their members being able to participate in civic and religious establishments.

Any member is allowed to quit when he likes if he has no outstanding financial obligations. This is an interesting statement. If they only have small dues to pay what in the world would be their financial obligations. In fact, if this were the case then the member would be suspended.
